Hamlin Friends, If you ever wanted to know the difference between a xylophone, a bell, and a metallophone, here is the perfect video for you! A percussionist (performer who plays percussion instruments, such as drums, xylophones, tambourines, etc.) from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra can explain it all to you in this video! I found the video on the DSO Facebook page, but you should be able to watch the video with or without Facebook, just click the link! I hope you find this as interesting and educational as I did! Wish we could be back at Hamlin playing the instruments and creating the music ourselves! Hey Hamlin Hawks! I hope you are keeping up with your reading, physical education, and art! Here’s another fun Musication video you can do with your family. Remember, you just need to find objects around your house that represent various percussion sounds, such as drums, triangles, etc. You can use oatmeal boxes, tupperware, kitchen utensils, or Amazon boxes! If you missed the first post on Musication, check it out HERE. My son and I do a quick demonstration! We did pretty good for just one practice :) Mrs. Combs Hi Hamlin Families, I am sending you all wishes for health, wellness, and peace during this time. You are invited to join the HAMLIN HAWKS MARATHON! This FREE and virtual initiative is an accumulated marathon. From now until June 1st, we invite Hamlin families to walk, run, or bike (2 biking miles= 1 marathon mile) a TOTAL of 26.2 miles over the span of this time. That may sound like a lot, but it is only walking 1 mile, 4 or 5 days a week! During this unprecedented time, please exercise safely using social distancing. Below are resources for this endeavor such as 1) A WINDOW SIGN showing you are participating as well as "Scotty the Hawk" pictures to tape up as you work towards your 26.2 miles goal. 2) A runner's journal to reflect on your walk/run/biking. Please email me with any questions and I look forward to hearing about your family's progress in the first ever Hamlin Hawks Marathon! Mrs. K
Hi Hamlin Hawks!
The Specials Team is missing you guys! I hope you're checking out the activities and links on the RCS District Specials page for fun activities to do. :) It's Authors in April Spirit Week, and the art teachers have created some amazing challenges for you to celebrate the books that we have been reading together. Check it out below and email me and Mr. Z your final products. We would love to see them! -Mrs. Bateman Hi Hamlin! The kids and I took advantage of the sun today and created a giant Chutes and Ladders board on our driveway with sidewalk chalk. Enjoy the video and send me a message with the fun things you are doing on this beautiful day! Hey Hamlin Family! Just checking in from the Specials team! We miss you so much! Here’s a little something I’ve been up to since I’ve been home. I have really enjoyed playing piano so much more now that I actually have time! As I was playing, I thought of a couple questions to ask you about this particular piece, called Papillons (translated Butterflies).
