If you like Hip Hop music, here is a fun website for you to pretend you are a Hip Hop DJ and create some of your own hip hop music! You can also learn a bit of history about the hip hop musical style. To create, simply click on the link or picture below, then press the play button on the "Google" word. The website will lead you through some history, then a tutorial on how to use the digital turntable. Basically, you will look through the bin of records, and choose records to put on the right and left sides of the turntable. Together, the sounds from the records will mix, creating new rhythms and patterns! Personally, I spent a LOT of time on this! So fun! The pic and the text boxes below give you an idea on how it works as well. Enjoy!

...and that means that it's almost time for summer reading! I'm going to share lots of resources, but today, I just wanted to make sure that you know about the Rochester Hills Public Library's awesome virtual summer reading program! Just because the public library building is closed, it doesn't mean you can't get involved with their summer reading program! The details are below. You can sign up for the program starting June 6th online, and kids and adults can get involved! :) Let me know if you have any questions. I miss you guys! :) Hi Hawks! It's the start of our virtual field day event! Please check out all the activities the RCS PE teachers have created for you at https://rcsspecials.weebly.com/rcs-virtual-field-day.html
Feel free to send pictures to Mr. Picot or Mrs. Kutschman! We miss you and hope you are going well! Here is one of my FAVORITE music books, called the Jazz Fly.
2nd - 5th graders! Do you remember how we’ve talked about music being organized into sections? Some of those sections are labeled with the words “Intro,” “Bridge” and “Coda,” while the other sections are labeled with letters, such as A, B, and C. In the Theme Song from “Star Wars,” the composer, John Williams, uses Themes throughout the piece. For example, there is a Theme to represent Leia, and a Theme to represent The Rebels. Using the link below, let’s celebrate the week of May the Fourth and follow a musical “map” for various Themes heard within the Star Wars Main Title Song. In this musical map, you will follow images for each Theme or section in the song. Listen carefully to the melodies, because each melody represents a different person or idea from the movie. There are also several transitions (or bridges) in the song that do not have an image, so listen carefully! If the answers box is checked, then the images for each Theme will light up for you! Do you think the melodies of each Theme represent the people and ideas well? Why or why not? Feel free to explore the other maps on this link, but please focus on Star Wars this week! ***When you click the link, click the "eye" on the far right to go into the map folder. Then, click the drop down menu to select #13, "Star Wars." Check out the images below for help. Happy Star Wars Day to all my Hamlin Hawks! This week, the library media activities on the RCS Specials Teachers' website are all Star Wars themed, including a new #RCSmakers challenge! Visit the Library Media page to learn more! I can't wait to see what you learn and do in honor of one of my favorite sci-fi worlds. :) May the force be with you. Hi Hawks! It is the start of a new week and it looks like we are going to have clear skies for the next few days! It would be a great time to get some miles in for your marathon. Here is a video update on how my "extra" marathon is going. Remember my goal is to get 100 miles in by June 1st. I hope you all are doing well, I miss seeing you in the gym! Hello Hamlin Hawks! If you are trying to think of a Mother's Day gift to give to your mom or grandma. I have the perfect gift. I have include a magazine cover that you can print out and draw a picture of your mom on the front and on the back write a really nice note about how much you love them. Color it and surprise them on Mother's Day. Happy Drawing!!!

Hamlin Friends, If you ever wanted to know the difference between a xylophone, a bell, and a metallophone, here is the perfect video for you! A percussionist (performer who plays percussion instruments, such as drums, xylophones, tambourines, etc.) from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra can explain it all to you in this video! I found the video on the DSO Facebook page, but you should be able to watch the video with or without Facebook, just click the link! I hope you find this as interesting and educational as I did! Wish we could be back at Hamlin playing the instruments and creating the music ourselves! |
